Guide
Simple Tables and Dedicated Tables
Each venue of the club numbers its tables in one of two ways. With simple tables, every event starts at Table 1. With dedicated tables, each table in the room has its own number, and each event holds its own tables.
Two Ways to Number the Tables
- Simple tables: every event starts at Table 1. Use them when one event plays in the room at a time.
- Dedicated tables: the tables in the room have fixed numbers, and each event holds its own tables. Use them when two events play in one room at the same time.
Nothing changes unless you change it. Every venue has simple tables, as before.
The picture shows one room on one night: a Hold’em event with 24 players and a mixed event with 14 players. The room has 8 tables.

Simple Tables
- Simple tables are the default for every venue, also for a venue that you add now.
- Each event has its own tables, numbered from Table 1. An event with three tables has Tables 1, 2 and 3.
- The event form asks nothing about tables. The expected players and the seats per table give the number of tables that the event starts with.
- When every seat is taken, the desk opens a new table. It gets the next number of the event, for example Table 4.
- The final table is Table 1.
Use simple tables when only one event plays at the venue at a time. Examples are a home game, a bar with one tournament each night, or a club that plays its events on different days.
Do not use simple tables when two events play in one room at the same time. Both events then have a Table 1, a Table 2 and so on, and players and dealers can go to the wrong table.
Dedicated Tables
- The Hold’em event holds Tables 1–5.
- The mixed event holds Tables 10–11.
- Tables 6–9 and 12–20 are free. Another event or a Sit & Go can use them.
- A player who goes to Table 10 sits in the mixed event. There is only one Table 10 in the room.
- A list can have gaps, for example Tables 1–9 and 15. PokerSjef writes it in short form: “Tables 1–9, 15 · 10 tables”.
With dedicated tables, PokerSjef knows the tables of the room. You tell it how many tables the venue has, for example 20. The tables then have the numbers 1 to 20, as on the tables in the room.
Each event at the venue holds a list of these numbers: its table list. Two events never hold the same table at the same time.
For example, on Monday a Hold’em event with 40 players and a mixed event with 14 players start at the same time.
Switch On Dedicated Tables
- Open Club Settings. Then open the page Venues.
- Press Edit on the venue, or press Add a Venue.
- Under Table Numbers, choose Dedicated Tables.
- In Tables at the Venue, type how many tables the room has, from 1 to 999.
- Press Save the Venue. The Venues page then shows Dedicated Tables and the number of tables.
A director or the owner does this once for each venue. The same page also holds the venue’s description, website, phone number, e-mail address, photo and room clock background.

Give an Event Its Tables
- Make the event as usual. When you choose a venue with dedicated tables, the form shows the field Tables, with free tables for the expected players.
- The suggestion follows the expected players, the seats per table, the date and the start time. When you choose the tables yourself, your list stays as you made it.
- Choose the Tables shows every table of the venue. A chosen table has a tick, and a free table has no mark.
- A table that another event holds at that time is locked, and the window says which event holds it.
- Use These Tables keeps the list. Then save the event as usual.
- A template keeps the table list. A copy of an event keeps the tables that are free on the new date, and leaves out the others.

When an Event Holds Its Tables
- An event holds its tables from the time check-in opens until its planned finish.
- Check-in opens one hour before the start, unless the club set another check-in window in Club Settings.
- The blind structure gives the planned finish: the end of the last planned level. The spare levels after it do not count.
- A running event holds its tables until it ends, also when it runs past the planned finish. A finished event holds no tables.
A new event, a new date or a new start time is refused when another event holds one of its tables at that time. The message names the table and the event.
A change of the blind structure is never refused, also when the new planned finish runs into the time of the next event.
Before the First Player Sits
- An event can also start without a table list, for example when you do not know yet how many players come.
- Before the first player gets a seat, the desk asks for the tables. The window Choose the Tables for This Event opens, with free tables already chosen.
- Confirm the tables, and the player gets a seat at once. Cancel seats nobody and takes no payment.
- The Floor can also choose the tables before the doors open. On the Seating tab, the card No Tables Yet has Choose the Tables.
At the first seat, PokerSjef checks the tables again, because an event before it can run late. When a table is still in use, the seat is refused, and the message names the table and the event. Change the tables on the Seating tab, then seat the player.
On the Night
- Players get seats at the open tables of the list.
- When every seat is taken, the desk opens the next closed table of the list, the lowest number first.
- When every table of the list is in use, the window The Table List Is Full names the next free table of the venue. Press its button, and that table joins the list and opens.
- When no table of the venue is free, the window offers a table that another running event closed. It then leaves the list of that event, which cannot open it again.
- When nothing is free, the window No Free Table says so. Free a table first, for example by breaking a table of the event.
- On the Seating tab, Change the Tables changes the list at any time. A table with players stays on the list. Only an empty table can leave it.
- Add a Table on the Seating tab shows the tables of the venue, so you choose the number of the new table.
- The final table is the lowest table of the list. An event on Tables 10–13 plays its final table at Table 10.
The tables of the list are made with the event. The first ones, as many as the expected players need, are open. The others wait, closed. Then the desk works in this order:
Sit & Go and Dedicated Tables
- A table that no event holds now or later.
- Then the table whose next event starts the latest. An afternoon Sit & Go then plays away from the tables of the evening event.
- Then a table that the running event closed in the night. It leaves the list of that event.
- A table that Sit & Go took by itself closes when nothing plays at it any more.
- While a Sit & Go plays at a table, the desk seats no player of an event there.
- Sit & Go follows the venue of the running event. With events at two venues at the same time, the Floor types the table numbers as before.
At a venue with simple tables, the Floor types the number of each free table on the Sit & Go page, as before.
At a venue with dedicated tables, switch on Take Free Tables Automatically in the Sit & Go settings. A full list then gets a free table of the venue by itself, in this order:
Change or Remove a Venue
- From simple to dedicated tables is refused while players sit in an event at the venue. Change it after the event ends.
- Back to simple tables, or fewer tables, is refused while a coming or running event holds a table that the change takes away. Change the tables of that event first.
- A venue cannot be removed while an event plays on its tables. When you remove it later, its coming events lose the venue and their table lists.
- A venue’s room clock background shows on the room clock of its events, in place of the club’s background.
Questions
- Do I have to change anything? No. Every venue keeps simple tables, and your events work as before.
- Can two events use the same table on one day? Yes, when their times do not overlap, for example an afternoon event and an evening event.
- Our room has gaps in its table numbers, for example 1–8 and 11–14. Type the highest number, here 14. Then choose the tables yourself, because the suggestion can pick a number that the room does not have.
- Can a table have a name, for example Feature Table? Not yet. Tables have numbers only.
